manual window regulator

Manual window regulator is the mechanical assembly that moves a window up and down manually. It can be inside the door panel, out of sight and out of mind until they stop working properly. It is the mechanical assembly responsible for moving a glass window up or down along a guided track.

Passengers in the car slide the windows up and down either by the press of a button or by rotating a handle manually. Either way, there is a mechanism behind the working of these windows. The window regulators which are located inside the door panel help raise or lower a vehicle’s windows.

Locate the two jack screws at the bottom of the window regulator, and turn them to adjust the window’s tension against the car frame. Turning the jack screws clockwise will draw the window closer to the frame of the car; counterclockwise will push the window toward the street.

Unlike power windows, there really isn’t a quick and easy way to force a stuck manual window up temporarily. You can try to pull the window into position, but doing so may make the problem worse by bending or breaking the regulator.
